The long-awaited trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has finally arrived, and it’s sure to get fans of the DC superhero excited for the sequel. The trailer, which dropped on Sunday, September 13th, features Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, as well as Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, vowing to take Aquaman down once and for all.
The trailer also features Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, and Nicole Kidman, all reprising their roles from the first Aquaman movie. The logline for the sequel reads, “Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.”
The trailer opens with Aquaman reflecting on his life, saying, “Four years ago, I was basically unemployed, a wanderer with no home. But now, I’m a husband and a father. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.” He’s now got a job, as well, looking after a kingdom of half a billion as King of Atlantis. But not everything comes easily for him in the sequel, as Black Manta returns in hopes of taking him out.
The trailer also features glimpses of Arthur’s childhood home in flames, as well as shots of Queen Atlanna (Nicole Kidman) and Mera (Amber Heard), princess of Xebel. The full trailer will be released on Thursday, September 14th, and the movie will be released in theaters on December 20th.
Overall, the trailer looks to be an exciting and action-packed sequel to the 2018 hit movie. Fans of Aquaman will be sure to be thrilled with the new trailer, and the movie looks to be a must-see for fans of the DC superhero.
